Submissions now being taken for Inaugural Scruffy City Comedy Festival

As many of you know I co-produce the Cape Fear Comedy Festival in Wilmington, North Carolina each May.  We just completed our 5th Annual Festival and over the last five years I have some amazing take-aways from being involved with this festival.  Here are some of them

1.)  Comedians want stage time more than anything

The Scruffy City Comedy Festival will give comics the chance to get on stage each night they are at the festival.

2.)  Comics want to know “Where da party at?”

The afterparty’s at the Scruffy City Comedy Festival will be coordinated, communicated in advance and within a short walk of the other festival venues in Downtown Knoxville, Tennessee.

3.) Comics are going broke going to comedy festivals

The Scruffy City Comedy Festival is working with local comics to provide places to stay for all comics that don’t wish to get a hotel room or other lodging during the festival.  We will also have a designated crash pad on Saturday night for those that are too drunk to drive back to their respective lodging.

4.)  Some comics feel their submission is like throwing their money away

This year we are working on the most comprehensive comedy venue database every assembled.  Those that submit to the festival will gain access to this ever-growing information and be able to contribute themselves to share with other ‘members’ of the site.

5.)  Performing for a small audience is like not performing at all

We get it, nobody REALLY wants to do a show for 20 people.  The Scruffy City Comedy Festival has hired a PR specialist that will help us devise the correct plan to make sure we come as close to selling out each show as we can.

There you have it, 5 reasons why you should submit to perform in the 2014 Scruffy City Comedy Festival
